1. Introduction
This Privacy Policy applies to the Hover application. We are deeply committed to protecting your
privacy and ensuring you understand how your information is handled while using our services.
2. Data Collection
Personal Data: We do not collect, store, transmit, or share any personal
user data. Your keystrokes, personal notes (if you do not use AI, see below), and general typing history remain entirely on your local device.
Telemetry & Diagnostic Data: We do log certain technical data for the purposes of debugging and abuse prevention. This includes:
- AI conversation logs — We log your AI conversations (this may include your notes and extracted documents' texts associated with the conversation) strictly for the purpose of identifying and resolving errors when they occur and to detect and prevent misuse of the service.
- Device ID — A randomly generated identifier assigned to your installation of Hover. This ID is not tied to you personally.
- Encrypted IP address — Your IP address is collected in an encrypted form. This encryption means we are unable to determine your precise location from it. It is used solely for abuse prevention.
This data is used strictly for debugging and abuse prevention and is not sold, shared with advertisers, or used for any other purpose.
3. Digital Assistant
Hover includes a Digital Assistant feature that allows you to interact with AI services directly from your device using system-wide triggers (long-press power button, home button, or corner swipe).
- No sensitive information is stored locally — Hover does not store passwords, credit card numbers, or other sensitive personal information on your device.
- AI processing — When you use the Digital Assistant or any AI-powered features, your messages and queries are sent to third-party AI providers (such as OpenAI, Alibaba, or other AI service providers) for processing.
- Zero retention policy (what this means) — We only use AI providers who maintain a strict zero retention policy. This means the provider commits to not storing, logging, retaining, or using your messages for any purpose — including AI model training — after your request has been answered. Your conversations are processed in real-time and immediately discarded from their systems. However, we cannot independently verify that specific individuals, organizations, or governments cannot compel or gain access to these providers' infrastructure. With this in mind, you should never share personal, sensitive, or identifying information when using Hover or any LLM-powered service for that matter.
- Local notes storage — Any notes or content you explicitly save within the app are stored locally on your device only, unless you choose to use backup features or use AI-powered features that may send your content to third-party providers.
4. Third-Party Services and LLMs
Hover utilizes external Large Language Models (LLMs) to power certain generative text features (such as
AI chat, text summaries, or writing assistance).
- Currently, the LLM providers we integrate with (including OpenAI, Alibaba, and others) do not collect or use your submitted
personal data for their own model training purposes according to their current agreements.
- Only the specific text that you explicitly choose to process through these AI features is sent securely
to the LLM provider to generate a response.
- Zero retention policy (what this means) — All AI providers we use maintain a zero retention policy: they commit to not storing, logging, or retaining your messages after a response is returned. Your data is processed in real-time and immediately discarded from their systems.
- Important limitation: While we select providers based on their zero retention commitments, we cannot independently verify that a specific individual, company, or government authority would not be able to access data on these providers' infrastructure. You should therefore never share personal, sensitive, financial, health-related, or identifying information with Hover or with any LLM-powered service.
- Please note that third-party policies are subject to change over time. If their policies regarding data
collection change in the future, those changes will be governed by their respective terms of service and
privacy policies. If/when we are aware of this, we will immiediatly switch to a different provider
5. Changes to This Privacy Policy
We may update our Privacy Policy from time to time. Any changes will be reflected on this page, and the
"Effective Date" at the top will be updated accordingly. We encourage you to review this Privacy Policy
periodically for any changes.
